Dear Transfer Students Entering the Class of 2029,
Welcome to Wesleyan! You’re not new to college, but you are new to Wes, and I am thrilled to have your experienced voices in our community. You already know that your choices shape your journey; my goal is to help you navigate the specific “Wes” way. As a fellow transfer student, I look forward to exploring this shared experience with you.
This summer I’ll communicate with you in two ways:
- One-on-one Zoom conversation – schedule yours now here.
- Bi-weekly emails that outline essential steps before arrival (this is one of those emails).
These emails are intentionally brief. For deeper context, I’ll expand on each topic in the Class of 2029 blog. Here’s a preview of what’s ahead:
Some Summer Tasks Approaching:
- June: Email & WesPortal setup; Academic Road Map Phase 1; Housing Preference Form
- July: Academic Road Map Phase 2; Course Pre-Registration; Health Forms
- August: Complete Online Orientation; Pre-Registration finalized; Housing & Advisor Assignments
- September 2: Arrival Day; Orientation Begins
You’ll receive two more emails shortly: one from IT with Wes Email/Wes Portal set up instructions, and one from the Office of Student Involvement about Online Orientation (required for all students; please complete it by August 15). Some suggestions to get started in the meantime:
- Explore the Get Ready for Wes website or reach out to an Academic Peer Advisor (APA). APAs know all things Wes and often respond quickly.
- Questions about Orientation or campus life? Email orientation@wesleyan.edu anytime.
- Follow the Orientation Interns on Instagram (@wes.involvement) for weekly summer tips and updates.
I’m excited to meet you over the summer (via Zoom); I encourage you to schedule that conversation now.
PS: If you are considering a health professions career, join the Pre-Health Professions Webinar on Monday, June 22 at 6:00 pm. Yashoda Sharma, health professions and life sciences career advisor, will cover course requirements and how to strengthen your candidacy at a liberal arts college.
Take care,
Dean Dunn
