Information For

Mid-Summer Check In and Reflection

Greetings, Class of 2029 –

Can you believe we are already halfway through the summer? I have enjoyed the change of pace, although I miss seeing all of you! I have had the opportunity to welcome 16 transfer students who will join your class this fall. They are wonderful and will bring so much to our campus community. I hope you will give them a warm welcome when they arrive.

Back in May, I shared a blog post with some reflection questions to help you celebrate your first year and look ahead to sophomore year. If you have not had a chance to read it yet, or would like to revisit it, you can find it here.

As sophomore year approaches, now is also a good time to take a closer look at your academic record. I encourage you to review the courses you took and the grades you earned this past year. From there, compare your coursework against the requirements for your intended major(s).

As a reminder, some majors at Wesleyan require students to earn a minimum overall GPA, or a minimum GPA in certain prerequisite courses in order to declare, so it is worth confirming that your grades meet those thresholds before the fall. Additionally, most majors require specific prerequisite classes to be completed or in progress by the time you declare. Reviewing those courses now will ensure you are on track for major declaration this coming spring (or this fall, if you will complete your studies in fall 2028). Your liberal arts advisor, our Academic Peer Advisors, and I are helpful resources as you review those requirements.

Still exploring potential majors? This website may help you focus your interests.

If we have not yet had the chance to meet one-on-one, I would love to connect. You can schedule a Zoom with me at http://calendly.com/deankellydunn.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Take care,
Dean Dunn
