Welcome to Wesleyan, Class of 2029 – Greetings from Dean Dunn!

Dear Class of 2029,

Welcome to Wesleyan! I look forward to supporting you as your Class Dean over the next few years.

At Wesleyan, you’ll be challenged to make important choices both personally and academically. These choices will shape your educational journey and personal growth. I encourage you to embrace curiosity, work hard, and develop strong faculty and staff mentorships.

This summer, I’ll send you weekly emails outlining the essential steps to prepare for your arrival on campus. These emails (except for this email and the last email I will send in August) are intentionally short in length because the content referenced in these communications is detailed extensively in the Online Orientation program. For weekly emails where I believe you can use a little more guidance, I will expand upon the weekly email content in the class dean blog (which is also updated weekly).

Below is a monthly breakdown of what lies ahead. While this list appears massive, rest assured that each weekly email will contain instructions and support to help you complete these tasks methodically. Our shared goal is to ensure you’re (mostly) prepared to begin your academic journey with us this fall, setting you up for a successful and smooth transition to Wesleyan.

Summer Timeline with Task Examples:

June: Email setup; WesPortal access; Academic Road Map Phase #1; First Year Seminar (FYS) Interest; Housing Preference Form; Parent/Guardian Contact Info; Religious and Spiritual Life Survey; Pre-Health Professions Webinar

July: Academic Road Map Phase #2; Start Course Pre-Registration; Health Forms and Immunization Records; WesCard Photo; Academic Integrity and Code of Conduct; First Year Matters Reflection; U Got This! module; Binge Thinking! module; Final High School Transcript

AugustComplete Online Orientation; Finish Course Pre-Registration; Academic Road Map Phase #3; Health Insurance Decision Form; Fall Semester Payment; Language Proficiency form; Housing Assignment; Liberal Arts Advisor Assignment; Emergency Contacts; Sustainability EDU form

September 3, 2025: Arrival DayYou will get two additional emails this week; one you likely already received from IT on how to setup your Wes Email and WesPortal accounts and another email tomorrow from the Office of Student Involvement with information about the Online Orientation module.

For now, enjoy your graduation and keep an eye on your email.

Don’t want to wait? Some resources to get you started include our Get Ready for Wes website and the Class of 2029 blog. Our Peer Advisors are also a great resource and because there are so many of them, you are likely to get a timely response when you reach out to this helpful peer group about all things Wes.

I’m excited to meet you in September!

Take care,

Dean Dunn
