Information For

Happy First Day of Classes!

Dear Class of 2029,

I hope the first day of class has gone well so far. It has been a delight getting to know so many of you, and I am beyond impressed with your class.

Now that you’re on campus, remember you still have access to our summer resources, including the online orientation and academic road map, both searchable in WesPortal. And of course you have access to all my spiffy summer emails through the Class Dean blog here (be sure to bookmark the topics related to critical thinking and resilience).

A few housekeeping items to keep in mind:

  • Drop/Add: This is live until Friday, 9/19, at 5pm. For a refresher on the process, including step by step screenshots, please click here. Please note any changes after this deadline are not guaranteed and need to go through a petition process. Our Academic Peer Advisors are a great resource to help you navigate drop/add.
  • First Day of Classes: Be sure to attend the first class for all your courses. Our faculty can drop students who don’t show up the first day. If you have an emergency that prevents you from attending the first meeting, email the professor right away.

During the semester I switch to a less frequent email cadence compared to summer, but you can still reach me via email, phone, or daily office hours. The best way to connect is to schedule a 20-min appointment here.

Sending you lots of well wishes for these first few weeks. I will continue to introduce myself to you around campus, and if I’ve already introduced myself to you more than once, please be patient with me – there are 828 of you! My goal is to know all of you by the end of the year, and you can help me achieve this by scheduling an appointment with me.

I hope to see you at upcoming events such as today’s Study Abroad FairCampus Job FairCareer CarnivalStudent Involvement Fair, and the Reboot and Recharge workshop – free dessert offered so RSVP today!

Welcome to your Wesleyan journey, Cardinals!

Take care,
Dean Dunn
Dean for the Class of 2029
