Greetings, Class of 2029!
I hope Fall Break gave you what you needed – whether that was rest, reflection, or a chance to catch up on work. As we head into the second half of the semester, I want to share some resources and reminders that might be helpful:
Upcoming Dates/Deadlines
Review the Academic Calendar for key dates including:
- 10/24: End of 1st quarter classes
- 10/29: 2nd quarter classes begin
- 10/31 (by noon): Financial Aid Deadline optional Winter Session classes
- 11/4-11/17: Course Pre-Registration for Spring 2026
Explore Majors and Minors
Check out the Fall 2025 Major Open House Calendar. Many departments offer free food and giveaways while helping you explore majors and minors.
Academic Support
Many students experience stress around this point in the semester – that’s completely normal. Whether you’re feeling on top of things, overwhelmed, or somewhere in between, there are resources designed to meet you where you are.
- Professors and Teaching Assistants (TAs) – Your first stop for course content questions
- Writing Resources and Peer Tutors – Support with writing and course material
- Academic Coaching – If you’re struggling with organization, study strategies, or time management, Academic Peer Advisors and professional staff can help
Other Support
Life beyond academics can be stressful too:
- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS): Mental health support from licensed counselors and psychologists
- Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL): Well-being support and community connections
- WesWell: Health and wellness resources
- Student Involvement: To find community and get involved
I’m happy to meet with you to discuss any of these resources or help you figure out how to access them. You are not alone, and there are supports to meet you wherever you may be.
You got this!
Take care,
Dean Dunn
